What will our first counselling session look like?

During our first session together, I will take you through the client counsellor contract so you are fully informed and comfortable with how I work and what each of our responsibilities are. From here, we will begin to explore what you have come to therapy for.

How long does a session last?

A typical counselling session lasts 60-minutes, this works for 80% of the clients I see. However I also offer 75-minute and 90-minute sessions.

How much does a session cost?

For sessions in-person, online and over the phone, the following price structure applies.

60 minutes - £90

75 minutes - £110

90 minutes - £130

Due to time and travel, outdoor sessions start at £150 for 90-minutes.

How long will therapy go on for?

Every client is unique, as are the challenges they face. I work with clients in an open-ended way, allowing you the freedom and choice to progress at a pace you feel safe and comfortable with.

I have some clients who see me once a week for 12-20 weeks, whilst others have been with me for over a year. There is no right or wrong answer, it’s whatever works for you.

As a minimum, I recommend clients begin with a block of 10 weekly consecutive sessions for consistency and continuity. The work culminates in a review of the therapeutic process followed by a discussion of how you would like to proceed.

Is everything I say confidential?

Everything that is said in our sessions together is treated with confidentiality and respect. The only limits to confidentiality are the following;

- Risk of serious harm to yourself or others.

- Abuse to a vulnerable person.

- Legal issues regarding money laundering, terrorism or drug trafficking.

What if I don't want to talk about something?

That’s okay. You get to choose what we talk about, how deeply we explore it and at what pace.

What if you cannot fix me?

So far, I have never met anyone who needs fixing. My role is to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, habits and experiences, in order to improve your mental and emotional well-being. I do this by helping you gain insight, perspective and clarity on whatever it is you are struggling with.

Where will our session take place?

I offer a variety of locations where our sessions can take place;

- Online via zoom.

- Over the phone.

- At therapy rooms in the centre of Manchester.

- Outdoors in parks and the countryside, including Manchester & the Peak District.
